The other day, I came across a very important Reddit thread:
I’ve watched way too much House in the past few weeks. This is by no means a personal record, but I watched season 5 in about a week. And call it Stockholm syndrome or perhaps just the mere exposure effect, but I’ve had to ask myself more than once these past few weeks…“Is Hugh Laurie hot?” Or rather, is “Dr. Greg House hot?”
According to Reddit, here is the consensus of what makes House hot:
the Vicodin addiction
the scruff
like specifically Hugh Laurie as House
the fact that he’s “damaged, physically and emotionally”
“when he makes that expression showing he truly cares about someone, like a dying patient he can’t save”
Season 5 was really good. I think Obama should’ve been impeached for his crimes. This season’s iteration of the team has been my favorite so far. Here are my additions to my running list of favorite House moments, season 5 edition:
Inhaler lady
Boom box kid
Kutner, again :)
“House, she’s clearly dead”
You want to know what’s really sick? Since last year, hardly a day goes by without thinking about ACOTAR at least once. And since I’ve finished Throne of Glass, hardly a day goes by where I’m not thinking about that. But House may have pulled me out of that, albeit briefly. When I’m watching House, I’m not really thinking about anything except,
Ultimately, I think the answer is, no, Hugh Laurie is not hot but House is hot. Alternatively, perhaps he is repulsive and I do have issues.
Moving on.
Meghan Markle & Gwyneth Paltrow
In what can really only be described as…fate? Kismet? The alchemy of stars and planets all aligning? YOUR duchess and MY Goop met up for coffee, presumably, or a nice stiff Goopy cocktail in Montecito to talk shit.
This is just so important to me. In ways I cannot even express. Partly because I will sound psychotic if I try. (Yvette is allegedly Beyonce’s publicist, btw. And in case you didn’t know, Goop and Queen Bey are (were?) longtime best friends, though I think Bey took Chris Martin in the divorce.)
Rachel Zegler
I just love her. I think two of the most vindicated people on the planet are Taylor Swift and Rachel Zegler. ICYMI, Rachel has been very vocally pro-Palestine. Her Snow White costar, Gal Gadot, is famously very pro-Israel, which makes sense, since she is Israeli and served in the IDF. (Insert: Twitter screenshot of the Swiftie who got arrested because she refused to sign up for the IDF, even if she did turn out to be lying.)
And now enter Marc Platt, father of Ben Platt (Benji in Pitch Perfect, the 40-year-old Evan Hansen in the Dear Evan Hansen movie), producer of Snow White and also the stage version of Wicked. (What I’m getting at is Marc Platt is a very influential stage and film producer.) Variety published what can really only be described as a hit piece of Rachel the other day, talking about how her being pro-Palestine is what killed the movie (not to mention overall live-action fatigue and oh, perhaps casting human cardboard Gal Gadot). In it, they wrote how Marc Platt flew to New York to pressure Rachel into deleting a “free Palestine” tweet but that she absolutely refused. Basically, the piece was to set-up that Rachel is the reason why Snow White is flopping. Sure, let’s dump it all on the 23-year-old lead.
Naturally, people went to Marc Platt’s son’s Instagram comments (Jonah Platt) about it, partly because I’m guessing Ben doesn’t have social media.
Ahh yes Mr. Marc Platt who had to “leave his family” to “fly across the country” to reprimand “his employee.” You would honestly think Marc Platt had like little children still at home but no I think his youngest is 28. Jonah here is like 38. Also, crew members and “blue collar workers” get paid before the movie is released. Do you know who depends on strong box office numbers? Producers.
So in a nice turn of events, the internet seems to be rallying behind Rachel. Older Disney weirdos still hate her for “ruining” Snow White but the more vocal, internet savvier population is in her corner. Which is nice.
Hmm I kind of thought there was more going on but I guess my life has just been grading law review notes & House. Onto March recap!
Things I Watched:
According to my Letterboxd,
Picture This: Cute Simone Ashley romcom on Prime but it was like too much com without enough rom. The happy ending truly comes out of nowhere bc you forget the guy exists. The guy is played by baby Voldemort aka Harry Styles in the After movies. But I liked it bc I like Simone Ashley.
Heretic: REALLY fun horror movie with Hugh Grant. So much of March has been taken by old British men named Hugh. I enjoyed this, though the premise was still a touch more promising than what ends up happening.
Beauty and the Beast: I put the animated movie on when I was making dumplings with my mom. 10/10 film. Easily in my top…3? Disney movies. Yeah I feel good about top 3.
Things I Read:
Started 3 books in March. Have not finished a single one.
Things I Listened To:
HOW BAD DO U WANT ME
And also the weather is starting to feel like Tortured Poets again. Who am I kidding I listen to “Guilty as Sin?” at least once per day.
Things I Bought:
Grad outfit ✅
Cap and gown ✅
I got Summer Friday’s SPF bc it’s mineral sunscreen and it’s pretty good. I’ve gotten quite a few compliments on my skin lately, which is nice.
Okay I really have to go finish law review notes.
I rewatched animated beauty and the beast yesterday and I’ve realized it’s also in my top 3 Disney movies
