Pride and Prejudice Casting
After watching P&P on the big screen, I’m getting less and less jazzed about the casting. I understand why Netflix is doing the project but I also do not understand why Netflix is doing the project. Clearly the demand is there (TikTok takes everything from me) but you can’t outdo the doer, you know what I’m saying?
I’m actually mostly just disappointed about Emma Corrin. I think they will ultimately do a good job but I think casting an unknown should’ve been the move. They’re just too…known at this point to play Elizabeth? Which I understand I’m a bit hypocritical because Keira Knightley had Pirates under her belt. Olivia Colman is still an inspired Mrs. Bennet and I’m not familiar enough with Jack Lowden’s work but he is Mr. Saoirse Ronan and I trust her taste. But he’s also…blond? I know hair dye exists but it’s about the essence of the man. And I don’t think a blond man has the joie de vivre (or lack thereof) of Mr. Darcy, just on a fundamental level. Also everyone is just so old? Keira Knightley was at least actually 20.
In all seriousness though, I’m very happy Chrissy and I were able to go see it together. Dare I say, the fact that she hadn’t seen it yet was kind of a sticking point in the friendship (tit for tat, I read Throne of Glass, she watched this), so I’m happy that’s sorted. Now we can move onto our next contentious thing, though I’m not really sure what it is at the moment.
Also, I found this Instagram post and here is my big 3 (you can clearly tell an Aquarius made this 🙄):
Mr. Darcy sun, Mary moon, Mrs. Bennet rising (which weirdly I think checks out).
Charli XCX & Green Day
Green Day was the headliner at Coachella and Charli wore a sash that said “Miss Should Be Headliner” and people got mad. I kind of have a quite negative opinion of her so like I don’t care but some of the discourse got weird (as it often does).
Her garbage girl shtick doesn’t work for me but clearly she resonates with some people.
And then Tre Cool, a member of Green Day, wore this:
You go, middle aged white man. Love the pink, sir.
Aimee Lou Wood & SNL
SNL did a spoof of The White Lotus last week (two weeks ago? idk time is a blur) called “The White Potus.” Which actually was very funny. And the skit was fine, making fun of, obviously, the current admin. But then weirdly they shoehorned in Aimee Lou Wood’s character by making fun of her teeth.
Aimee brought it up on Instagram saying she didn’t find it funny and then Sarah Sherman sent her flowers. So all’s well that ends well. But yeah I’m not sure what SNL was thinking.
Check-In with House
I have not watched House in…4/5 days? But here is a list of my favorite season 7 moments, as I (still) await for your arrival to season 8:
Taub poster
House with kids, again (I don’t remember which kid this is in reference to)
House’s hair in episode 11
Olivia Wilde bangs
13 and House’s [redacted] and he [redacted]
And before you go, watch this:
Glig-ing for the rest of the week! We’re in the home stretch!!!
