Football
I’m in my third iteration of caring about football. The first was during my senior year of undergrad when MSU football was actually really good. The second was last year when I had to learn what a “tight end” was. And now, just because I hate the Chiefs.
There is a lot of talk about hating the Chiefs and I just want to give you guys more reasons to. I think wanting to avoid a three-peat is a valid reason to root for the Eagles, but here are more, just in case someone asks:
The Chiefs owners, the Hunt family, are terrible people. Huuuuge Republicans.
Conversely, the Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, is a huge Democrat. He hates Donald Trump and declined the White House invite in 2018 after the Eagles won. Do you know who will

The Hunt family gifted Taylor that hideous Judith Leiber purse. Anyone who thought that was cute enough to give to Taylor, for $5,000, is just tacky and tasteless.
I just hate Brittany Mahomes. And also Patrick Mahomes’ brother. And I need a break from hearing the words “Travis Kelce,” to be frank.
The word “three-peat” is trademarked by Miami Heat president, Pat Riley. The NFL has struck a deal that will allow the Chiefs to use “three-peat” on any merch if they win. WHICH MEANS, this old Republican ass is going to get paid if the Chiefs win.
There is evil coming from all sides. Goodness must prevail. Go Birds.

I really don’t know how to explain it so I’m just going to link the tweet with the video. It’s from Spain’s Temptation Island. I don’t really know the premise of the show but I can probably make an educated guess. Just. Idk watch it.
Emilia Perez
What a turn this has taken. ICYMI, Karla Sofia Gascon, the star of shitty movie Emilia Perez had awful, awful tweets resurface dated from about 2019-2024. How a PR company didn’t have the foresight to review and scrub her Twitter is beyond me. Anyways, she went after pretty much every marginalized group: Asians (specifically China), Muslims, Black people, Oscars diversity (in 2020 when Daniel Kaluuya and Youn Yuh Jung won, she called it an “Afro-Korean festival”), and George Floyd. Like she kind of left no minority unturned. It’s almost impressive.
Anyways, Netflix announced they aren’t supporting her anymore. Any awards show she wants to go to, she now has to pay out of pocket (travel, outfit, hair, makeup, etc.). The director (also quite bigoted himself, so) said he has no desire to speak with her. After Karla said Zoe Saldana and Selena support her “200%,” Zoe all but denied it. It’s very messy.
And I’m not saying this backlash isn’t justified. HOWEVER, it is a little concerning to me how quickly Netflix and the industry was able to turn their backs on the first trans Oscar nominee when tons of abusive, offensive, and evil white men are still getting movies made and garnering support. Likeeeeee I see right through you.
Karla announced yesterday she will be stepping back from the Oscar campaign to give Zoe a shot, since she is the frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actress award. I think Critics Choice is this weekend and voting ended before all of this happened so I’m wondering how it’ll go. I think the main takeaway, though, is that this is the industry’s fault for even entertaining the idea that Emilia Perez is good.
Travwives
A certain subsect of Swifties (cough cough new ones) have it in their head that anyone Taylor chooses to surround herself with is a Good Person. And they blindly defend them until something happens and then they flip like a switch. Shocking, I know, but you are allowed to remain neutral about people Taylor associates with.
What we have seen over the last year or so of this relationship is the rise of “travwives.” And they’re just incessant little cockroaches. You can never kill them bc they just come back stronger. There’s an excuse for everything and actually Taylor has never done anything wrong ever and how dare you insinuate Taylor and Travis won’t get married.
All of this to say, Travis’ answer during the press conference was very shitty. It wasn’t neutral in the least and publicly fence sitting while ALL OF THIS is going on is stupid. And cowardly. “Oh but look at what happened to Selena when she stood up against the White House. Travis is just protecting Taylor” shut the fuck up. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have the resources and security to take some lashings. Do you know who could really use her as a shield? The millions and millions of people that are being targeted by the Executive Branch right now.
Grammys
Oh yeah I forgot this happened. Cowboy Carter slay!!! I had people IRL tell me that Cowboy Carter “isn’t country” so she “shouldn’t have won.” Tell me, do you listen to Morgan Wallen? Yeah I bet.
Frankly, this is part awarding this impeccable album and part reparations for the Grammys absolutely snubbing “Daddy Lessons.” I’m shocked she got AOTY during Trump’s America but maybe this is the start of finally fighting back.
I’m not shocked TTPD didn’t win anything. Officially my top 4 Taylor albums all do not have Grammys. Which just goes to show my perfect taste. True greatness just can’t be measured through awards. Just look at my queens all lined up together:

I really liked Taylor’s dress, though I wish it had been long. There was something too figure skater-y about it. But I liked the structure of the bodice and the color. Perhaps not the best optics to wear Republican red in public like that but I recently came into possession of an American flag sweater so I should probably sit this one out. Sigh. But please. Fix the bangs.
